Safeguarding Policy

How Fitrah Revival protects your dignity, confidentiality and safety throughout every coaching relationship.

At Fitrah Revival, the safety, dignity and wellbeing of our clients is taken seriously. Fitrah Revival provides online coaching for Muslim men aged 18 and over, including clients in the UK and internationally, who are seeking support with pornography use and related behavioural difficulties. As a one-person online coaching business based in the UK, I have established safeguarding procedures to ensure that concerns relating to abuse, exploitation, serious self-harm, suicide, serious harm to others and the safety of vulnerable people are taken seriously and responded to appropriately. I aim to provide a respectful, confidential and non-judgemental environment where clients can speak openly about sensitive issues.

What safeguarding means at Fitrah Revival

Safeguarding means taking reasonable steps to protect people from abuse, neglect, exploitation and serious avoidable harm. This may include concerns relating to: - Physical abuse - Sexual abuse - Emotional or psychological abuse - Domestic abuse - Financial abuse - Neglect - Exploitation - Coercive or controlling behaviour - Serious self-harm or suicide risk - Serious threats of violence - Abuse involving children - Abuse or exploitation of vulnerable adults A safeguarding concern does not require certainty that abuse or harm has taken place. A serious disclosure, observation or concern may require further action or professional advice.

Confidentiality and its limits

Confidentiality is an important part of the coaching relationship. Information shared during coaching will normally be treated as confidential and will not be shared unnecessarily. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance. There may be situations where information needs to be shared if: - There is an immediate risk to someone's life. - There is a serious risk of serious harm to the client. - There is a serious risk of serious harm to another person. - A child may be at risk of abuse or serious harm. - A vulnerable adult may be experiencing serious abuse or neglect. - Disclosure is required by applicable law. - Sharing information is otherwise lawful and necessary to protect someone from serious harm. Where it is safe and reasonably possible to do so, I will explain to the client what information may need to be shared and why. Only information that is relevant and necessary will be shared. Where a client is located outside the UK, any safeguarding response will take account of the client's location and the relevant laws, emergency services and safeguarding structures that apply there.

If you tell me about a safeguarding concern

If a client discloses something that raises a safeguarding concern, I will: - Listen calmly and respectfully. - Take the concern seriously. - Allow the client to explain the situation in their own words. - Avoid unnecessary judgement or blame. - Consider whether anyone is at immediate risk. - Explain any relevant limits to confidentiality. - Record appropriate information where necessary. - Seek appropriate external professional or safeguarding advice when required. I will not attempt to conduct my own investigation into allegations of abuse or criminal activity.

Online safeguarding

Fitrah Revival operates primarily online through video calls, telephone calls, WhatsApp, email and online resources. Because coaching is delivered remotely, there are particular limitations to online safeguarding. Fitrah Revival cannot provide physical emergency intervention or guarantee a client's physical safety. Where a serious safety concern arises during an online session, I may need to establish the client's current location or other information necessary to obtain appropriate assistance. Clients should understand that third-party services such as WhatsApp and video-conferencing platforms have their own privacy and security arrangements.

Suicide and self-harm

Fitrah Revival recognises that clients may sometimes experience significant distress or disclose thoughts of self-harm or suicide. These disclosures will always be taken seriously. Fitrah Revival is not an emergency mental-health service, and coaching cannot replace appropriate professional or crisis support. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services immediately. For example: - UK: 999 - US/Canada: 911 - European Union: 112 If you are elsewhere, contact the emergency number or emergency service applicable to your country. Where appropriate, I may encourage a client to contact their local doctor, healthcare provider, crisis service, mental-health professional or other suitably qualified service.

Concerns about another person

A client may disclose that another person is being abused, exploited or placed at serious risk. This will be taken seriously and the appropriate response will depend on the circumstances. Where necessary, appropriate safeguarding, professional, emergency or law-enforcement services may be contacted or recommended. If a child or vulnerable person is believed to be in immediate danger, the appropriate local emergency service should be contacted immediately.

Professional boundaries

Fitrah Revival maintains clear professional boundaries. Because the coaching service involves sensitive discussions about pornography and sexual behaviour: - Clients will never be asked to send pornography. - Clients will never be asked to send intimate or sexual photographs. - Clients will not be asked to send explicit videos for assessment. - Sexualised communication between coach and client is not appropriate. - Client vulnerability will never be used for personal benefit. - Coaching will remain professional and focused on the client's goals. If explicit material is accidentally sent, it will not be redistributed and unnecessary retention will be avoided.

Adults only

Fitrah Revival's standard coaching service is for adults aged 18 and over. Fitrah Revival does not knowingly enrol under-18s onto its adult coaching programme. If information relating to the safety of a child is disclosed during coaching, appropriate safeguarding action will be considered based on the circumstances and the location of the child.

When coaching is not enough

Coaching has limitations. There are circumstances where a client may require support from a qualified healthcare professional, specialist service, emergency service or statutory organisation. These may include: - An immediate mental-health crisis - Serious suicidal intent - Serious risk of violence - Child safeguarding concerns - Serious domestic abuse - Medical emergencies - Serious substance-related emergencies - Situations involving suspected serious criminal activity or exploitation Where a situation falls outside the scope of coaching, I will encourage appropriate professional support and, where necessary and lawful, seek or provide relevant safeguarding information.

Respect, dignity and faith

Fitrah Revival works specifically with Muslim men and recognises that faith and Islamic values can be an important part of a client's recovery journey. Clients will be treated with respect regardless of their circumstances. Islamic values may be incorporated into coaching where appropriate, but religious guidance or spiritual support does not replace professional healthcare, mental-health treatment or safeguarding intervention where these are required. Fitrah Revival will never use religious shame, humiliation or coercion as a method of safeguarding or coaching.

Raising a safeguarding concern

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to yourself or another person during your involvement with Fitrah Revival, you are encouraged to raise it as soon as possible. You can raise a concern directly with Fitrah Revival using the contact details provided on this website. If you believe that someone is in immediate danger, do not wait for a response from Fitrah Revival. Contact your local emergency services immediately. If the situation is urgent but not an immediate emergency, contact an appropriate healthcare professional, safeguarding service, crisis service or other relevant authority in your country.

Our responsibility

As the sole founder and coach of Fitrah Revival, I am responsible for implementing this safeguarding policy. Where a concern involves me personally, or where a matter cannot appropriately be managed by Fitrah Revival alone, appropriate external professional, safeguarding, statutory or law-enforcement advice will be sought. Where a client is outside the UK, the response will take account of their location and the relevant local services and legal requirements, where these can reasonably be identified. Fitrah Revival cannot guarantee the availability, response time or actions of external emergency, healthcare, safeguarding or law-enforcement services in any particular country.
